HOW DID THE ONLINE BUSINESS STUDENT ASSOCIATION (OBSA) GET STARTED?
In January of 2017, the Online Business Student Association was established by Rachel Pruitt and Emiko Bankson, driven by the shared desire to foster a stronger sense of connection with Arizona State University.
WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF ONLINE BUSINESS STUDENT ASSOCIATION (OBSA)?
Our primary purpose, both historically and presently, is to facilitate connections among high-achieving online students seeking to engage with the ASU Business student community. This collaboration aims to enrich their ASU experience and contribute positively to their journey towards becoming accomplished business professionals.
HOW DOES OBSA FACILITATE NETWORKING AND CONNECTIVITY FOR ONLINE BUSINESS STUDENTS?
Through our dedicated online platform, we offer a comprehensive range of academic, networking, and social resources, including meetings. Our mission is to ensure that each online W. P. Carey student experiences a strong sense of connection, feels valued, and is well-prepared for success upon graduating from ASU.

We host three distinct event categories. Firstly, we conduct insightful interviews with seasoned business professionals, offering valuable insights into their industries and companies. These speakers share a mutual commitment to support OBSA members and encourage you to connect with them on LinkedIn. They serve as exceptional resources, readily available to address queries and provide guidance. Seize this opportunity to enrich your network and gather invaluable advice.
Secondly, we organize engaging workshops that provide opportunities to acquire new skills. These workshops cover a wide range of topics, from enhancing speed reading to mastering networking techniques and optimizing your LinkedIn profile. Our diverse workshops empower you with practical knowledge to excel in various aspects of your academic and professional journey.
Thirdly, we also offer a biweekly "Brew and Banter" session, creating an informal space for online business students to gather on Zoom. These sessions serve as a platform for mingling, mutual assistance, and fostering connections among our members. HOW CAN ONLINE ASU STUDENTS JOIN OBSA?
Joining OBSA as an online ASU student is easy. Just navigate to the Join Us section and click on "Join Here" to be taken to visit Sun DevilSync. From there, we'll provide you with clear guidance on the subsequent steps.
HOW DO I JOIN A MEETING FOR THE FIRST TIME?
To join a meeting for the first time for members-only, follow these steps:
1. Check your meeting invitation: Look for an email or calendar invitation that contains the meeting details. It should include the date, time, and a link or instructions for joining the meeting.
2. Install any required software: If the meeting is hosted on a specific platform or software, make sure you have it installed on your device. For example, if it's a Zoom meeting, download and install the Zoom application.
3. Test your audio and video: Before joining the meeting, check that your audio and video settings are properly configured. Ensure your microphone and camera are working correctly if you need to use them during the meeting.
